The draw will take place at noon on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
At Du Plooy Law we pride ourselves on being creative, innovative and thinking outside the box and we love to get involved with community initiatives that do the same.
That is why it is our pleasure to support Rootstock, a “field to table farm-fresh experience” on Saturday, August 13, from 5 to 9 p.m., hosted by our client Food Water Wellness Foundation and held at the picturesque Fallentimber Meadery in Water Valley, Alberta.
Featuring the best local food and drink and amazing musical acts and entertainment, Rootstock is being billed as “the event of the summer” and for good reason. Not to mention a very good cause.
“Rootstock will showcase local farmers and the contribution they make to environmental stewardship while growing healthy food,” according to Food Water Wellness Director Kimberley Cornish.
All proceeds raised will support the mission of Food Water Wellness Foundation, which aims to revolutionize farming by making “regenerative farming a profitable, logical choice for our food growers and provide them with the information, connection and community to make this possible.”
So just what do lucky ticket holders to the second annual Rootstock have to look forward to? Well, for starters, a farmers market where they can interact with local growers and purchase fresh produce. Guests can also wet their pallets with drinks from Fallentimber Meadery, Eau Claire Distillery and other local breweries, while dinner will be provided by renowned Alberta chef David Cousineau.
However, we are most excited about the musical portion of the evening. Especially since Du Plooy Law is proudly sponsoring the performance by award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter Gabrielle Papillon, who is sure to dazzle with her genuine East Coast charm and heartfelt lyrics.
Claudius Du Plooy, lawyer at Du Plooy Law, is a music lover who was first exposed to her music on CBC Radio 2 and he says it immediately resonated with him. Upon hearing that she was confirmed as one of the musical acts for this year’s Rootstock, he immediately decided to sponsor her.
Her accolades include 2015 Music Nova Scotia Awards Recording of the Year, and nominations for 2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards Contemporary Album of the Year, 2015 Music Nova Scotia’s Artist of the Year, and Solo Recording of the Year.
